Elon Musk’s Father Faces Long-Standing Abuse Allegations
Errol Musk, the father of tech billionaire Elon Musk, has been accused of sexually abusing five of his children and stepchildren dating back to 1993, according to a report by The New York Times.
The allegations, which span decades, may shed light on why Elon Musk rarely discusses his father publicly. Guardian US noted that members of the Musk family have at times sought Elon’s intervention, prompting him on occasion to step in.
Errol Musk, 79, has strongly rejected the accusations, describing them as “nonsense” and “completely false.”
The Times report, citing family correspondence and interviews, stated that Errol — who has at least nine biological and stepchildren from three marriages — still exerts considerable influence over his family.
Court and police records reviewed by the outlet indicate that the earliest complaint emerged in 1993, when a four-year-old stepdaughter alleged that he had touched her inappropriately. Ten years later, the same individual claimed he was caught sniffing her underwear. Other allegations involve two daughters and a stepson.
The Times reported that authorities launched three separate investigations. Two were closed without charges, while the outcome of the third remains unclear.
In a statement, Errol Musk dismissed the claims as fabrications, accusing relatives of coaching children to make false statements in an attempt to extort money from Elon.
Elon Musk himself did not respond to requests for comment. However, in a 2017 Rolling Stone interview, he described his father as someone who had done “almost every evil thing you could possibly think of.” Reflecting on his childhood, Elon said he once pitied his father and tried to keep him company, but later realized, “It was not a good idea.”
He added cryptically: “My dad will have a carefully thought-out plan of evil. He will plan evil.”
