In a bold step toward digital transformation, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has introduced an AI-powered virtual assistant to enhance staff training and operational readiness ahead of the Anambra governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025.

The new tool, called the INECTrainingBot, is hosted on Telegram and provides 24/7 access to interactive lessons, training materials, and self-paced modules for INEC officials and election stakeholders.

This marks a major shift from the commission’s traditional in-person workshops toward a more accessible, tech-driven training model.

According to INEC, the innovation aims to improve efficiency, consistency, and preparedness among ad hoc and permanent staff.

The bot enables users to study key election procedures, familiarize themselves with electoral technologies like the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), and receive updates directly through their mobile devices.

The unveiling comes alongside INEC’s announcement of PVC distribution for new registrants between October 22–26, and a mock accreditation exercise scheduled for October 25 across all three senatorial districts of Anambra State.

These measures are part of the commission’s readiness test for the upcoming polls and its continuous effort to ensure transparency and credibility in the electoral process.

By leveraging artificial intelligence, INEC is signaling its commitment to embracing innovation for better election management.

However, experts note that success will depend on how well field officers adapt to the new system, especially in areas with limited internet connectivity.

If effectively implemented, the AI assistant could become a blueprint for nationwide digital training and a milestone in Nigeria’s journey toward smarter, more transparent elections.
