Osun APC to Governor Adeleke: Prepare Your Handover Note Ahead of 2026 Polls
Osogbo, November 30, 2025 – The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has advised Governor Ademola Adeleke to begin preparing his handover note, declaring that no amount of political maneuvering can save him from defeat in the upcoming 2026 governorship election.
The statement, signed by Kola Olabisi, the party’s Director of Media and Information, came in response to reports of Governor Adeleke’s alleged screening by the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2026 polls.
PDP Screening ‘A Face-Saving Attempt’
According to the APC, Adeleke’s recent appearance at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja — where he was seen filling out screening forms alongside Osun’s Commissioner for Commerce, Mr. Bunmi Jenyo — was merely a publicity stunt meant to divert attention from his failed bid to defect to the APC earlier in the year.
The statement alleged that in the past five months, Governor Adeleke made multiple attempts to join the APC out of fear of losing re-election but was rebuffed by party leaders.
“He was turned down because the APC cannot afford to market a governor whose administration is marked by corruption, nepotism, and incompetence,” the APC said.
Allegations of Poor Governance
The opposition party accused Adeleke’s government of running a “shallow and mediocre” administration that prioritizes self-interest over public welfare.
The APC claimed that in 35 months, Adeleke’s government spent over ₦60 billion on the Governor’s Office without employing a single teacher, even as over 32,000 job seekers were allegedly defrauded in a failed recruitment exercise.
They further blamed the governor for neglecting the education sector, forcing tertiary institutions in the state to hike tuition fees to survive dwindling government funding.
‘Rejection by the People’
Calling Adeleke’s PDP screening a “kangaroo exercise,” the APC maintained that the people of Osun had already “screened out” the governor through their discontent with his leadership.
“Osun people are unanimous in their rejection of Governor Adeleke’s misgovernance, wasteful spending, and vindictive policies. His desperation to defect to the APC is a sign of fear and frustration,” the statement read.
2026 Election: ‘A Contest Already Decided’
The APC expressed confidence that Adeleke would lose the forthcoming governorship election “regardless of which party he contests under,” citing the strength of its pool of “super-qualified” aspirants ready to take over the state’s leadership.
“The 2026 election is already a lost battle for Governor Adeleke and his rudderless party,” the statement concluded.
“The people of Osun are ready to vote for progress, transparency, and competent governance.”
