President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday met with the newly appointed service chiefs at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja, charging them to uphold professionalism, unity, and vigilance in defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity.

The closed-door meeting, which came just days after a major shake-up in the military hierarchy, marked the President’s first official engagement with the new security heads since their appointment on October 24, 2025.

Those in attendance included:

President Tinubu urged the military leadership to foster greater collaboration among the armed forces and security agencies, stressing that unity of purpose is vital to winning the nation’s ongoing battles against insurgency, banditry, and other threats.

“You are stepping into your roles at a defining moment for our country. Nigeria must see results — in discipline, intelligence coordination, and operational efficiency,” the President was quoted as saying by an aide.

The appointments follow months of rising security concerns across several regions. The President’s move is seen as part of efforts to restructure and strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture to deliver better results.

The service chiefs are expected to present their operational plans to the National Security Council in the coming days, focusing on intelligence-sharing, joint operations, and modern warfare strategy.
